Nose Surgery (Rhinoplasty) Orange County

Figure 1. Before surgery, these rhinoplasty patients have large, slightly hanging noses, with a hump and an enlarged tip.

Figure 2. Incisions in each nostril may be joined together, to see both sides of the nose at once. If your nostrils are too wide, small wedges of skin are removed from them, to make them smaller.

Figure 3. The incisions provide access to the cartilage and bone, which can then be sculpted into shape.

Figure 4. The surgeon removes the hump, then brings the nasal bones together to form a narrower bridge. Cartilage is trimmed to reshape the tip of the nose.

Figure 5. Trimming the septum improves the angle between the nose and upper lip. The septum can also be straightened if you have breathing problems.

Figure 6. A splint made of tape and an overlay of plastic is applied to help the bone and cartilage of the nose maintain their new shape.

Figure 7. After surgery, the patient has a smaller nose, a straighter bridge, a well defined nasal tip, and an improved angle between the nose and upper lip.
